Sevilla

Ayer fue uno de esos días en que todo sale bien, muy buen sonido, una sala muy chula, Hiroshima Atomic Garden que son majísimos y muy pepino, una ciudad espectacular y hasta una furgo cortesía de la casa para que pudiésemos dormir. Bien es cierto que el público estuvo algo conservador, escuchando desde la línea de triple aunque aplaudían como si les gustase, ;-)

Yesterday was one of those days when everything goes right. Good sound, a really cool music hall, Hiroshima Atomic Garden who are really nice people and a great band, a spectacular city and even a van on the house for us to spend the night in. It is true that the crowd was a little conservative, listening from the three points line but it is also true that they applauded like enjoyed it. ;-)

¿Cómo era eso que hacía en esta parte? / How was that thing I used to play in this part?

Normalmente nuestros ensayos consisten en periodos de unos veinte minutos improvisando en los que poco a poco algo se va definiendo, aunque no siempre. Cuando algo chulo sale nos miramos, seguimos con ello, a veces paramos y lo comentamos, si toma forma buscamos un cambio y al siguiente ensayo normalmente no nos acordamos y versionamos nuestro propio conato de canción, a veces para mejor y a veces para peor. Para que las ideas no se nos vayan entre los dedos nos hemos pillado esta juguetito para grabar partes de los ensayos y poder escucharlas después.

Normally our practices consist of a series of twenty minute periods of improvising in which little by little something eventually becomes clear, though not always. When something cool shows up we look at each other, keep playing and sometimes stop and comment on it. If it becomes clearer we look for a transition but the next day we practice we have often forgotten everything and we make kind of a cover of our own song, sometimes for the better other times for the worse. In order not to let these slip between our fingers we've bought this little toy to record some parts of the rehearsal that we can listen to afterwards.

London

Ya tenemos otra fecha para Londres. Estaremos allí el puente de octubre (del 9 al 12) Tocaremos el sábado junto a The Welcome Committee y el lunes junto a estos más A Simple Disguise y The Familiar Smile. Esperamos pasarlo guay y triunfar como la gaseosa. Si algún valiente se anima a ir, que tenga cuidado con los árboles, que al parecer están bajos. La foto la tomó Ángel cuando estaba vivendo allí. We already have another date for our stay in London. We'll be there for the holiday weekend in October (from the 9th to the 12th) We'll play with The Welcome Committee on Saturday and with them plus A Simple Disguise and The Familiar Smile on Monday. We hope to have fun and have a good time. If someone is nuts enough to come over with us, they should watch out the trees, apparently they are too low. Jaguaaar!!!

Esta es la nueva guitarra de Ángel, suena como un bisonte y eriza al máximo los pezones cuando pisa el wah-wah. De momento sólo la ha tocado en el último concierto, con Rosvita en Moby Dick, aun le está pillando el truco.

This is Angel’s new guitar, it sounds like a bison and makes people's nipples hard when he uses the wah-wah pedal. For now, he’s only used it in the last concert. He’s still getting the hang of it.

THP y Rosvita en Moby Dick

Nos ofrecieron la fecha de ayer para tocar en Moby Dick (gracias Mae) y enseguida nos pusimos en contacto con Rosvita. Vimos que acababan más o menos en esa fecha su gira europea así que tuvimos suerte y dijeron sí a nuestra invitación. Es un lujazo tocar con este grupo, hubiéramos ido a verlos aunque no hubiéramos tocado nosotros, tienen un directo que quizá sea el mejor de Madrid. El concierto fue todo un éxito, Moby Dick siempre ofrece un sonido muy bueno y la entrada estuvo bastante bien, mucho más siendo un martes de julio.

We were offered yesterday to play at Moby Dick and we got right away in touch with Rosvita. We noticed they were finishing their European tour by the time our concert was set so we got lucky and they said yes to our offer. It's a luxury to play with this amazing band, we would actually have gone to see them even if we were not playing with them. Rosavita live might be one of the best performances in Madrid. The concert was a success, Moby Dick has very good acoustics and the attendance was ok, more than ok if we keep in mind it was on a Tuesday in July.

Nasti y Contempopranea

Este fin de semana nos hemos marcado un par de conciertos en Madrid (Nasti, organizado por Indypendientes) y en Bolaños de Calatrava (Ciudad Real, presentando el Contempopranea) Gracias a los chicos de Spinning Plates por alojarnos. Ambos conciertos los dimos con Hiroshima Atomic Garden con los cuales seguiremos tocando en Septiembre por el sur. Otro día os explico lo que es un bolaño.

This weekend we had a couple of concerts in Madrid (at Nasti, organized by Indypendientes) and in Bolaños de Calatrava (in Ciudad Real, in the Contempopranea Festival) Thanks to Spinning Plates for letting us crash at their houses. We played in both concerts with Hiroshima Atomic Garden, who we'll play with again in September in Southern Spain. I'll explain to you what's a round shot (bolaño) another day.

Theremin

Todos sabíamos que tarde o temprano un theremin pasaría a formar parte de los botoncitos de los Home Phonema. David ha sido el culpable y últimamente está casi más pendiente del cacharro que de la guitarra. Seguro que lo podréis escuchar en algún tema de la próxima grabación.

We all knew that sooner or later a theremin would go on to form part of this band's little buttons. David is the one to blame and lately he's been focusing almost more on this piece of junk than on his guitar. You'll surely listen to it in any of the songs that make up our next album.
